SUMMARY:Webinar: The “Comfort Promise” Preventing Pain and Anxiety Caused by Needle (& other painful) Procedures in Paediatrics
DESCRIPTION:The Asia Pacific Hospice Palliative Care Network will be hosting a webinar on ‘The “Comfort Promise” Preventing Pain and Anxiety Caused by Needle (& other painful) Procedures in Paediatrics’ on 27 April 2026 (Mon)\, 12:00-13:00 pm (GMT+8). We are honoured to have Dr Stefan J. Friedrichsdorf from the Stad Center for Pediatric Pain\, Palliative and Integrative Medicine\, UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospitals\, USA as our speaker for this session! \nSynopsis\nThis lecture examines the urgent need to transform how healthcare teams approach procedural pain in children. Participants will review current data identifying the procedures that continue to cause the highest rates of untreated pain and anxiety in paediatric settings. The session explores how unaddressed procedural pain contributes to increased morbidity and mortality\, shaping both immediate clinical outcomes and long term health trajectories. Attendees will also learn evidence based modalities—ranging from comfort positioning and topical analgesia to distraction\, caregiver involvement\, and trauma informed communication—that should be offered to every child\, every time\, everywhere. By embracing the “Comfort Promise\,” clinicians can reduce suffering\, strengthen trust\, and elevate the standard of paediatric care. \nSpeaker Bio\nDr. Stefan J.
