Day 7 – Patron of APHN, Dr Shigeaki Hinohara, Japan
Dear members and friends of APHN,
This year will be the 15th year anniversary of the Asia Pacific Hospice Palliative Care Network (APHN)! We are releasing a special edition of the APHN newsletter to commemorate this speacial year, and making it FREE to access for all of you! Our team has specially prepared uniquely APHN articles for in the special edition, and we are very excited! There will be many initiatives waiting to be unfolded for the rest of 2016, and we hope that you can look forward to reading them in the special edition when it is released on 25th April.
It is 7 days to publishing day, and we will like to share with you articles featuring our patron, Dr SHIGEAKI HINOHARA from Japan! Dr Shigeaki Hinohara dreamed of an organisation that would support hospice workers in Asia. It was Dr Hinohara who, as Chairman of the Life Planning Centre in Tokyo, invited delegates to Japan for the discussions from which the APHN evolved. Dr Hinohara believes that life should be lived to the fullest and that we should strive towards actualising our full potential. His father, a Christian clergyman gave him excellent advice: “Have big visions and put such visions into reality with courage. The visions may not be achieved while you are alive, but do not forget to be adventurous. Then you will be victorious. “It is this vision and spirit of adventure that have brought into being the Asia Pacific Hospice Palliative Care Network.
