Palliative home care services across the world varies in terms of organisation structure, resource availability, legal procedures, and cultural practices. Nevertheless, the final aim of all these services is to fulfil the needs of the patients and their family in the context of improving their quality of life. Nurse June will share with us her journey of encountering the internal conflict of her good intentions to provide good palliative care service while facing the limited resources, the challenging coping mechanism and culture of each family. Therefore, a clear outcome assessment and evaluation will ensure the service stays focused on the organisation’s mission and vision.
We are honoured to have Nurse June Thow from Malaysia to speak on this topic. Nurse June Thow is a Registered Nurse who graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. With 5 years of experience working as a community palliative care nurse in an NGO, she has an interest in teaching and doing research related to palliative care with hopes to expand knowledge and awareness about palliative care in Malaysia.
