We are honoured to have Professor Amy Chow and Michael Dash as our speakers for the session!
Amy Y. M. Chow is a Professor with the Department of Social Work and Social Administration, The University of Hong Kong. She is the Director of the Jockey Club End-of-Life Community Care Project and the Master of New College of the University. With the background of registered social worker specialized in bereavement counseling, she is the founder of the first community based bereavement counseling centre in Hong Kong. She is also the Chairperson of the International Workgroup on Death, Dying and Bereavement and the former Secretary of the Association for Death Education and Counseling. Recently, she received the Association for Death Education and Counseling 2020 Research Recognition Award.
Michael Dash is the coordinator of the Sydney Local Health District Palliative Care Bereavement Counselling Service. He has worked as a bereavement counsellor since 2000 and was a member of the pain and palliative care team at the Children’s Hospital Westmead. Michael has also worked in the area of HIV/AIDS and in the Community sector with young people at risk, as well as in Local Government and was a teacher and school counsellor in Victoria. Michael also teaches mindfulness-based practices to a wide variety of groups and individuals, including patients undergoing or recovering from cancer and their families.
