11 October, 2022 @ 2:30 pm - 3:45 pm
Join us for our final session of our Quarterly Webinar Series for 2022!
For this session, it will be a candid conversation with Dr Rosalie Shaw who has vast experience in Palliative Care development in the Asia Pacific Region. She was a champion of providing humanistic care for patients and demonstrated an ability to connect with staff working in Palliative Care, inspiring us to develop more compassionate ways to care for patients and develop such services. This webinar provides a great opportunity to hear from her about her extensive experiences over the last few decades. Her impressions on how palliative care has and is developing in the region and how we can better develop our clinical and leadership skills in this field.
Dr Rosalie Shaw has been practising as a palliative care physician since 1981 when she established the first hospital-based palliative care unit in Australia in Hollywood Hospital in Perth. In 1992 she was invited to Singapore to be Medical Director of the Hospice Care Association, a position she held until she was appointed as the inaugural Executive Director of Asia Pacific Hospice Palliative Care Network in 1999. In this position, until 2009, she made 124 visits to 22 countries as a clinical teacher and management consultant. She was awarded the Public Service Medal and the Order of Australia Medal by the Australian Government and the PBM (Public Service Medal) by the Singapore Government.
Dr Shaw wrote about her experiences in Singapore in Soft Sift in an Hourglass – Hope and Resilience at the End Of Life, published in 2009.
The webinar session will be held on 11 October 2022, 2.30-3.45 pm (Singapore time).
A/Prof Ghauri Aggarwal will chair the session and pose questions to Dr Shaw in the first 45 minutes, which will then be followed by 30 mins for a live Q&A with the webinar participants.
