APHN will be hosting a FREE webinar on ‘Findings on the usage of complementary medications in Paediatric Palliative Care in Hong Kong ‘ on 25 Oct 2022 (Tues), 1-2 pm GMT+8. We are honoured to have Dr Man Sze Shun as our speaker for this session! To check your local time for the webinar, click here: https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/
Children receiving palliative care face unique physical and psychosocial challenges. Parents sometimes turn to complementary medication (CM) for help. However, relevant studies on CM are limited. We will share a study examining patterns of usage of CM on paediatric patients with cancer and non-cancer conditions who are receiving palliative care in Hong Kong. We recommend that future studies could explore the integration of CM approaches into palliative programmes for symptom management and psychological support in different local settings.
Dr Man qualified from Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2007 and obtained MRCPCH in 2011. Since her higher training in paediatrics, she developed her interest in palliative care in children. She was appointed to be the team head of paediatric palliative care team in Hong Kong Children’s Hospital since Oct 2018 and is responsible for setting up the centralized palliative care service in Hong Kong. She is also the vice-president of Hong Kong Society of Children’s Palliative Care.
