The Asia Pacific Hospice Palliative Care Network (APHN) is pleased to announce the Cynthia Goh Award Program as part of the biennial Asia Pacific Hospice Palliative Care Conference (APHC). The goal of this program is to recognise individuals or institutions that promote the development of palliative care within their countries or around the world.
Objectives of this Program
The APHN will give the recognition award to individuals that
- have contributed to building capacity, advancement and provision of palliative care.
- have dedicated selflessly to promote and support the alleviation of pain and suffering from life- limiting illnesses of patients and their families in order to improve their quality of life.
Prize
One Award will be given at each APHC onsite unless otherwise stated due to unforeseen circumstances. The award comprises
- A fully paid attendance to the APHC including economy airfare, hotel lodging and registration fees.
- A certificate
- One-year APHN membership
- A 15-minutes airtime to present his/her acceptance speech
Selection Process
The APHN Executive committee will evaluate the applications and select the best nominations. The winner will be selected based on the information provided in the application. The committee will be evaluating based on the nominee’s work to advance palliative care provision, education, research, and service provision in the community, country or abroad.
Nomination Criteria
- Candidates must be nominated by an APHN member. No self-nominations are allowed.
- Nominees may or may not be a current APHN member.
- Nominations are to be submitted online through the APHN website (www.aphn.org)
- Deadline to apply is 31st of December in the non-APHC year. Nominations submitted after this date will not be considered.
- The APHN EXCO reserves the rights to determine the extension of application timeline.
Exclusion Criteria
- Individuals who have received the same Award the past.
- Members of the APHN board of directors, officers, staff, and advisers, are not eligible for this award.
Optional
The Award recipient will be invited to the APHC to give a presentation of their work subject to the approval of the Scientific Committee of the APHC.
