PALLIATIVE CARE WORKSHOP ON SUFFERING AND HOPE (19 – 21 AUG 2016)
It is inevitable that despite the best of advanced medical interventions, most patients succumb to their life-limiting illness. The burden of suffering may cause despair to patients and their families.
This three (3) day workshop, in collaboration with the Asia Pacific Hospice Pallaitive Care Network, addresses how to deal with issues of suffering as many may not know how to give hope when all curative treatment becomes futile. It is most suitable for doctors, senior clinicians, nurses, psychologists, counsellors and especially those involved in making crucial decisions when the transitions from cure, to prolonging survival and palliation becomes the aim of holistic patient-centred care.
Workshop facilitators:
Dr Sue Marsden, New Zealand, Palliative Care Consultant (with a background in radiation oncology)
Liese Groot-Alberts, New Zealand , Professional Grief Therapist
