APHN Webinar #15: Palliative Care in Humanitarian Crisis

APHN will be hosting it’s second webinar of our 2020 APHN Webinar series* on 26th May 2020, 8-9 pm (GMT+8)! It will be a 1 hour session with a Q&A segment at the end with the speaker.

We are honoured to have Dr Joan Marston from South Africa speaking on the topic of Palliative Care in Humanitarian Crisis. Given the current global COVID19 pandemic, this webinar would be a great opportunity to find out palliative care needs, practices, barriers, and recommendations in humanitarian crisis settings. You will be able to ask Dr Marston any questions you may have at the end of the session.

Dr Marston is the co-founder of PalCHASE (Palliative Care in Humanitarian Aid Situations and Emergencies). Hosted by IAHPC, PalCHASE is a global network of palliative care and humanitarian health practitioners working to ensure palliative care is included in the humanitarian health response to disasters and humanitarian crises. Previously, the first national Advocacy Manager and then National Paediatric Palliative Care Manager for the Hospice Palliative Care Association of South Africa, during which time she co-founded the International Children’s Palliative Care Network (ICPCN) in 2005 and became their first CEO; developed Beacon centres for children’s palliative care and worked on a project to develop children’s palliative care in Maharashtra, India. She is presently the Vice-President of the Elisabeth Kübler-Ross Foundation US, Vice-Chair of PatchSA (Palliative Treatment for Children (Patch) South Africa) and an Advisor to the Board of the African Palliative Care Association.

*APHN has decided to make this webinar free for everyone to join as we understand the importance of eLearning options especially during these times.
