🎉 Celebrate our 21st Anniversary!
On 1 March 2001, the Asia Pacific Hospice Palliative Care Network (APHN) was officially registered as a charity.
The original vision for the Network as conceptualized by its patron, Dr. Shigeaki Hinohara, a 95-year-old cardiologist in Tokyo, Japan, was for a support network for individuals working at the forefront of palliative care development in the Asia Pacific region.
Since then, the organisation has grown in terms of network and accomplishments. This year, we celebrate 21 years of the APHN and their dedication to promoting hospice and palliative care in the Asia Pacific! We hope you will continue to support the APHN as we work towards ensuring equitable access to hospice and palliative care in the region, as well as, carrying on the legacies left by the palliative care titans before us.
To celebrate our 21st Anniversary, we would like to give away COMPLIMENTARY COPIES of our two publications: 'to let the light in' and 'Seasons of Life'!
About 'Seasons of Life'
‘Seasons of Life’ is a self-care book that incorporates art with tips on self-care and mindfulness. This book was conceptualised with our healthcare and frontline workers in mind. With the ongoing pandemic, these healthcare heroes have served others tirelessly at the expense of their own physical, emotional and mental health. Utilising paintings that were generously donated by the Singapore Life Art Society, a team of experts came together to develop self-care techniques and tips on practicing mindfulness. Through this book, we hope to provide an avenue for the reader to begin their own journey of self-care as well as serve as a reminder to take a breather and take care of themselves. (This book is available in both English and Mandarin.)
About 'to let the light in'
This publication is a collection of poetry written by doctors, nurses, caregivers, and patients from across the Asia Pacific region, addressing one of humanity’s most universal experiences: death. With over 100 poems, each one intricately woven together from experience and emotion, we hope to offer a source of comfort, shared grief and emotional connection for everyone involved in the palliative care journey (or if you just want to gain a deeper understanding of the subject at hand).
These copies have been kindly donated by the late Professor Cynthia Goh.
