Paediatric palliative care (PPC) is a very new discipline in Nepal. In the capital city, Kathmandu, PPC is commonly associated with cancer only. However, Dr Shrestha has been working with children with disability and developmental disorders for the last 5 years where she has seen the need for active and total care for these children and their families. This led her to join the palliative care team and work towards integrating developmental paediatrics with paediatric palliative care.
Dr Amrita Shrestha is a Consultant Paediatrician who has recently completed the National Fellowship of Palliative medicine from Institute of Pallium, India. She is currently engaged at the Palliative Care and Chronic Disease Unit at Green Pastures Hospital, Pokhara, Nepal, with a passion to provide palliative care to children with neurodevelopmental disorders. She has been working with children with disabilities in the last 5 years and has had the privilege to really get to know the children and their families. She understands that the concerns and pain that that the family goes through are not just in the physical realm. She envision accessible paediatric palliative care services that will reach out to households that are far and forgotten.
The webinar will be hosted via Zoom. Register here.
