Come join us for the fourth and final session of our 2024 Quarterly Webinar Series! This time our topic will be on ‘Nursing in Palliative Care’ held on 16 October 2024, 3:30-4:30 pm (Singapore time). It will be a live 1 hour session with a Q&A segment at the end with the speakers.
For this session, we are honoured to have Professor Chia-Chin Lin from Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Charity Foundation, Hong Kong and Professor Patsy Yates from Queensland University of Technology, Australia as our speakers!
What will be covered:
Professor Chia-Chin Lin is currently Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Charity Foundation Professor in Nursing, and Director at HKU School of Nursing. Prior to joining the HKU, Professor Lin served as Dean at College of Nursing, Taipei Medical University between 2011 and 2017.
As a global healthcare educator, researcher, and leader, Professor Lin’s career encompasses the mission of research, education, and practice. Professor Lin’s areas of research expertise include cancer pain management, symptom management, end of life care, and physical activity in cancer and palliative care. She is the author of more than 230 publications in international peer-reviewed journals, and she has received numerous research awards and served as a member of editorial boards of renowned journals. She translates evidence to improve healthcare, implement teaching innovations, and provides leadership to upgrade education, research, and practice.
Professor Lin has been listed among the world’s top 2% scientists in Nursing for three consecutive years during 2020 – 2022. She is also an International Nurse Researcher Hall of Fame awarded by Sigma Theta Tau International and a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing. Professor Lin received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Taipei Medical University, her Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy from University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Nursing and Educational Psychology. In addition, she obtained an EMBA from National Taiwan University.
Distinguished Professor Patsy Yates, AM, PhD, RN, FACN, FAAN is the Executive Dean of QUT’s Faculty of Health and Co-Director of QUT’s Centre for Healthcare Transformation. Patsy has extensive experience as a leader in practice, education and research in nursing and the health sector. She is an NHMRC Investigator Fellow who leads a large competitively-funded research program focused on developing workforce capacity in cancer, palliative and aged care, advancing the management of symptoms associated with advanced disease, and strengthening the nexus between research, policy and practice in palliative and aged care. Patsy is the immediate past-President of the International Society of Nurses in Cancer Care and a past-President of Palliative Care Australia.
