Speaker Bio
Professor of Palliative Medicine and Director of the ATLANTES Global Observatory, a WHO Collaborating Centre for the Global Monitoring of Palliative Care. He has led the development of the regional Atlases of Palliative Care in Africa, Eastern Mediterranean, Europe, and Latin America, and now presents the first-ever Atlas of Palliative Care in Asia-Pacific (2025).
Recipient of the 2019 EAPC Award, Prof. Centeno has authored landmark studies on global palliative care development, education, and policy. His research explores not only service delivery and access but also the intangible values of care, such as dignity, gratitude, and meaning at the end of life.
