Dr Nell Muirden, a longtime friend of APHN, died in Melbourne on 9 June 2013 after a short illness.
Nell was one of the pioneers of palliative care in Melbourne. The work of Albert Schweitzer in Lambaréné had inspired Nell to study medicine so she could be a medical missionary.
