This October, Support Palliative Care Advocacy One Step at a Time!

Every year, World Hospice and Palliative Care Day (WHPCD) is opportunity to advocate for People Living with Palliative Care Needs (PLWPCNs). This year, WHPCD will be on Saturday 12 October 2024.

As part of our efforts to celebrate and support hospice and palliative care around the world, we are organising our annual fundraising event: Meaningful Miles, where individuals or teams are encouraged to fundraise while carrying out the pledged distance of their chosen activity (e.g running, cycling, hiking or an activity of your choice) from the month of October until December:

Register and start your fundraising campaign from 5 September 2024 onwards. You can donate directly or encourage your friends and family to help you reach your fundraising goal until 31 December 2024.

The race period runs from 1 Oct -31 Dec 2024. Be sure to complete your challenge by 31 Dec 2024, 23:59 SGT.

The top 3 fundraisers for the Meaningful Miles campaign will each receive a SGD200 Amazon gift card!

Whether you're fundraising solo or as part of a team, only one gift card will be awarded to each top spot. Team efforts count as one, so gather your supporters and aim high!

Take note, to be eligible for the prize, you'll need to raise at least SGD500—so let’s get fundraising for a great cause!

You can join as an individual/team and choose any activity such as running, walking, hiking, cycling etc. you wish to complete from Oct to Dec! Share it in your campaign title e.g. Tom is Running for Palliative Care!

Be sure to include a short description about why you decided to join in this fundraiser.

2. Pledge your goal

Choose your distance and fundraising goal to accomplish (e.g. 1,000 km for $5,000). Track your distance covered and share your progress on your campaign page.

3. Share your challenge

Start sharing your challenge with your friends and family! Encourage them to donate to your campaign or even start their own fundraiser! No effort or contribution is too small.

FAQ

Can anyone participate in this event? Expand

Anyone can participate in this event as long as the participant is medically and physically fit!

Is this an in-person event? Expand

No, this a virtual event. Participants will run, cycle etc. on their own time and track their own distances.

Where can I run, cycle, hike etc.? Expand

You can run, cycle, hike etc. anywhere in the world, as long as you are doing so legally and safely. All of the distances you clock during the challenge month will count towards your challenge.

The only limitation is that all activities are to be done in compliance with all laws of the jurisdiction(s) in which you are completing these activities.

How do I track my distance? Expand

Any mobile apps or devices that are capable of tracking the date, distance and duration of your run can be used (e.g. Strava, Runkeeper, Nike Run Club etc.)

You can upload a photo or screenshot displaying the date, duration and distance of activity on your campaign page under 'Updates' or email them to aphn@aphn.org with your name or team name.

Note: You may also take a photo of your progress on the treadmill (do make sure the photo displays the date, duration and distance of your activity).

Be sure to include your name or your team name in the email if you are sending them to APHN.

How many people can be on a team? Expand

There is no maximum number of people that can be part of a team.
