“Sunset Serenade – A Celebration of Life and Legacy”, a one-of-a-kind community music festival that aims to open hearts and minds to the importance of palliative and hospice care.

This meaningful event will take place on the 22nd November 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM at Anjung Selera, Tanjung Lipat, Kota Kinabalu. Organized in conjunction with World Hospice & Palliative Care Day, “Sunset Serenade” draws its inspiration from Dr. Ira Byock’s four important tasks to complete during end of life: I love you, thank you, I forgive you, please forgive me, goodbye. Admission to this event is free for everyone.

Through the universal language of music and the power of storytelling, we aim to:

  • Raise public awareness about palliative and hospice care.
  • Encourage open conversations around terminal illness, living meaningfully, and legacy.
  • Build a compassionate community by inspiring volunteerism in hospice services.

Highlights of the event include:

  • Live performances by local musicians, choirs, and artists.
  • Thought-provoking narratives adapted from real-life experiences of patients and families.
  • Interactive group activities promoting emotional expression and connection.
  • Candlelight closing ceremony to reflect on life, love, legacy

We anticipate an audience of 200–300 attendees from diverse backgrounds, particularly among young professionals, caregivers, and advocates of the arts and community well-being. Our collaborators for artistic performance are Academy of Art & Creative Technology University Malaysia Sabah and Legato Music School.

This is a webinar organized by the Lebanese Association of Palliative Care Nurses that operates under the Order of Nurses in Lebanon. The program will start with a poem read by one of the members followed by a self narrated story of a bereaved family caregiver describing her personal experience with nurses while her daughter was hospitalized. The story will be followed by a 20 minutes TedEx video where the young patient, Sara, elaborates on lessoned learnt during her journey with the illness. Mongolian Palliative Care Society (MPCS) celebrated WHPCD on October 7 in the education hall of NCC with 50 participants (MPCS, PC dept of NCC, workers from Compassionate gaze Hospice, Green Home hospice, Agape hospice, Hope hospice, Pediatric PC dept of national Center of Mother and Child Health, Pc dept of Erdenet city, PC dept of Khentii province, PC doctors from 5 district of capital Ulaanbaatar, @ teachers of Family Medicine Dept of the MNUMS). This event has 3 mane activities:

I. Training lectures after opening ceremony (vice director of NCC Khurelsukh, president of MPCS- D. Odontuya )
Lectures: 1. Neuropathic pain management by Pregabalin, comparison of pregabalin and Tebantine. 2. Use of Bisphosphonates for bone pain. 3. Liver problems in Mongolia, and the safe drugs for liver diseases. 4. Fentanyl patch for severe chronic pain, and methods of titration.

II. Awarding of the best palliative workers of 2025. 2 workers from Green Home, 1 worker from Agape hospice , 1 worker from Hope hospice , 2 workers from Grace Hospices, 2 workers from the palliative care department of the National Cancer center, 2 workers from the palliative care department of Erdenet city hospital, 1 worker from pediatrics palliative care department from the National center for Child and Mothers Health, 1 doctors from Pain clinic , officer of Health department of capital Ulaanbaatar, teacher of GP dept of Mongolian National University of Health Sciences, secretary of MPCS , totally 15 people received best palliative care workers award from MPCS and gifts.

III. Cold guessing game competition, chess, checkers competition within members of MPCS for pleasure and for prevention of burnout. The winners also received an award from the MPCS.

Through collaboration with institutions, organizations, and communities, HCCH reaffirms its commitment to holistic cancer care that honors dignity, relieves suffering, and ensures that patients and families are never alone in their journey.

To start off our month-long celebration, we opened with a memorandum of agreement signing with The Ruth Foundation for Palliative and Hospice Care for joint hosting of End-of-Life Nursing Education Consortium (ELNEC) training, as well as for the project, 'Compassionate Communities', covering the training of HCCH non-medical employees in basic palliative care

We also held a mini interdisciplinary panel discussion entitled, “Palliative Care Across the Cancer Continuum: An Interdisciplinary Conversation.” This was a moderated panel highlighting the integration of palliative care into surgical, medical, radiation oncology, and nursing care - showcasing the importance of having a supportive multi-disciplinary team approach in palliative care.

Memorandum of Agreement Signing with Taguig Pateros District Hospital and Taguig Local Government

Last October 8, 2025, the executives of AC Health and Healthway Cancer Care Hospital, headed by Mr. Paolo Borromeo and Dr. Manuel Francisco Roxas respectively, held a memorandum of agreement signing with the Local Government of Taguig City Philippines - headed by Taguig Mayor, Honorable Maria Laarni Cayetano and the administrators of Taguig Pateros District Hospital. This partnership aims to provide free hospice and palliative care services for the residents of Taguig City, Philippines. The HCCH Quality of Life (Palliative) Fellows will rotate with the Taguig Pateros District Hospital Home Care Program as part of their training.

In celebration of this year’s World Hospice and Palliative Care Day, the Section of Supportive Hospice and Palliative Medicine of the Department of Family and Community Medicine, Eastern Visayas Medical Center, re-introduced Palliative Medicine to Barangay 106, Tacloban City through a meaningful community engagement. 💙
The day’s activities included:
✨ Interactive Learning – Introduction to Palliative Care, services offered, and myths vs. facts
📝 Wall of Promises – pledges for making palliative care accessible to all
🎯 Intergenerational Bonding Game – connecting generations through trivia and teamwork
🕯️ “Promise Circle” Candle Lighting – a symbol of unity in achieving universal access
Together, we continue to advocate for compassionate care, dignity, and comfort for all.
