Working with Government to build a national palliative care system

20 years of efforts to work with Government of India to integrate palliative care with routine health care are finally paying dividends.  The Government of India recently formulated a palliative care strategy.  But this is the time when palliative care pioneers and enthusiasts have to work all the harder to ensure that the evolving Government system is realistic and strong.  The Government is planning to put in money into training, but that requires effective curricula and realistic operational plans.  Pallium India took the initiative and collaborated with the Institute of Palliative Medicine at Calicut and the Indian Association of Palliative Care (IAPC) to develop curricula for training programs that are immediately needed…read more
