With the advancement of medical treatment, neonatal-perinatal palliative care is becoming very important in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). It is necessary to integrate palliative care with intensive care while considering the several characteristics of neonatology.
In this webinar, we will provide an opportunity to discuss the key points of neonatal-perinatal palliative care, with a focus on management and challenges in Japan.
Dr. Kazuto Ueda is a pediatrician who specializes in neonatology and works in the level III neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at Nagoya University Hospital in Japan. He is a facilitator for the Japanese educational program of palliative care for pediatricians, and he also participates in children’s hospice activities in the local community.
Dr. Ueda’s work involves caring for newborns and infants who require the highest level of intensive care. He understands the importance of integrating intensive care with palliative care and believes in providing consistent palliative care services from the fetal to the postnatal period for babies and their families.
