Quarterly Webinar Series 2022 Report

In 2022, the Asia Pacific Hospice Palliative Care Network (APHN) hosted yet another successful series of webinars with a variety of topics:

  • 16 March: ACP is a Journey not a Destination, How do we travel well? by Dr Noreen Chan (Singapore)
  • 7 June: Bereavement Care: Research and Practice by Professor Amy Chow (HK) and Michael Dash (Australia)
  • 25 August: Research Webinar by Professor Wang Ying Wei and Dr Megan F. Liu (Taiwan) – Global Quality Indicators for Palliative Care (Prof Wang) and Challenge for Future Research Collaboration: Learning from the Development of Palliative Care Atlas in Asia Pacific by Dr Liu
  • 11 October: In Conversation with Dr Rosalie Shaw by Dr Rosalie Shaw (Australia)

Attended by over 1500 participants from *20 regions worldwide throughout the year, these webinars provided educational opportunities for individuals interested in different aspects of palliative care regardless of their geographic location. The topics for our 2022 Quarterly Webinar Series were thoughtfully curated by APHN’s Education Committee based on the feedback we received from our previous series. Each session is approximately 1-1.5 hours, including 15-20 minutes for a live question and answer segment with the speaker.

For our final session this year, we decided to shift away from a clinical topic and instead have a candid conversation with Dr Rosalie Shaw, who shared her extensive experiences working in palliative care over the last few decades.

Over the course of the year, our participants have shared their feedback on the webinars with us and we were heartened to hear that sessions have been beneficial to their learning and that they plan to utilise the knowledge they gained and apply it to palliative care in their own settings.

We received an average of 153 responses from 13 regions, with an overall 4.8 out of 5 satisfaction rating across all four sessions. The respondents were from lower-middle income economies (n=9), upper-middle income economies (n=2) and high-income economies (n=11).

We are very grateful to our speakers this year, Dr Noreen Chan, Professor Amy Chow, Mr Michael Dash, Professor Wang Ying Wei, Dr Megan F Liu and Dr Rosalie Shaw, for taking the time out of their busy schedules to share their expertise at our webinar sessions.

We are also thankful to our host sites around the region who broadcast our webinars to their colleagues and engage in post-webinar discussions.

We will return in 2023 with new topics and speakers, so, stay tuned!
